- Determine what exists currently
- Determine what members are currently missing out on meetings and try to get them involved (in particular)
- Pick a date and time for regular meetings
- Find a location (one that is expected to be used most or all of the tikme)
- Locate or create documentation on current infrastructure
- Identify missing infrastructure and delegate responsibility for each item
- Identify local businesses that may have people who wish to present
- Find "filler" presentations for the meetings in which there are no guest speakers (what are we good at, what do we have experience with?)
If you are resurrecting a past chapter:
- Try to contact previous organizers and find out what went wrong
- Try and use the same schedule and location, if possible
