---++ Overview

I'm an _ancient_ Linux user (been using it a lot since 1991). I also have a fair amount of Unix experience (Ultrix, DEC/Unix, !SunOS/Solaris, ...) and VMS and TOPS-10/20 experience that spans back to the 1970s, but that experience is realtively old and crusty.

I helped a friend in High School build a computer from old IBM 1410 parts (1973), where I learned the first things about system architecture and components. I then eventually grew into a systems programmer.

Nowadays, I'm mostly retired, but I "come out" to help in the Linux community and the occasional non-profit and old client.

Between then and now I was an employee at Digital Equipment Corporation, ran a few consulting companies (Professional Systems and Technologies, then [[http://www.codemeta.com/][CodeMeta]], Inc.) and had the proverbial boat-load of clients.

Moved old TWiki from rogue.codemeta.com to GNHLUG's new server (Thanks BenScott) on 11/12 March, 2006.

twiki.org gave a workaround that appears to work.

Spent the last several hours updating the TWiki.BlackListPlugin (and undo-ing the work of some spammers yesterday).

Then I discovered what appears to be a bug in the plugin (reported it at http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Plugins/BlackListPluginDev)
But I turned off Spam-word filtering until I hear back on the bug.

Spent the last several days (about 3 hours total) diagnosing and fixing a problem that was preventing WebNotify messages to go out from the TWiki. Turns out the problem was in some file permissions, and then having the site's webmaster in the gnhlug-org mailman's database.
